DigitalOcean made cloud servers simple: a Droplet, a monthly price, done. Its prices have hardly moved while hardware got much cheaper, so a $24 Droplet in 2026 still gives you 2 vCPU and 4 GB of RAM. We built tport.cloud to sell the same kind of server, an Ubuntu machine with root, a public IP and a monthly price, with the resources today's money should buy.
Short version: from DigitalOcean's $12 Droplet up, we offer 4 to 6 times the RAM for the same money or less, and traffic is included instead of pooled and metered.
Size for size
DigitalOcean Basic Droplets (shared CPU, regular SSD) from their pricing page, next to the tport.cloud plan at the same price or lower:
| DigitalOcean / month | vCPU | RAM | SSD | Transfer | tport.cloud at same or lower price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| $4 | 1 | 0.5 GB | 10 GB | 0.5 TB | $1: 0.5 vCPU · 0.5 GB · 10 GB (30 days free) |
| $6 | 1 | 1 GB | 25 GB | 1 TB | $6 shared server (no root): 1.5 vCPU · 3 GB · 40 GB |
| $12 | 1 | 2 GB | 50 GB | 2 TB | $10: 6 vCPU · 12 GB · 200 GB (6x the RAM) |
| $18 | 2 | 2 GB | 60 GB | 3 TB | $10: 6 vCPU · 12 GB · 200 GB |
| $24 | 2 | 4 GB | 80 GB | 4 TB | $19: 8 vCPU · 24 GB · 300 GB (6x the RAM) |
| $48 | 4 | 8 GB | 160 GB | 5 TB | $33.50: 12 vCPU · 48 GB · 400 GB (6x the RAM) |
| $96 | 8 | 16 GB | 320 GB | 6 TB | $49.50: 16 vCPU · 64 GB · 500 GB (4x the RAM) |
DigitalOcean's transfer is pooled across your team, unused transfer does not carry over, and going over costs $0.01 per GiB out (bandwidth docs). Ours is included in the monthly price.

And the RAM-heavy boxes
If you need lots of memory on DigitalOcean you leave the Basic line for dedicated-CPU Droplets. A Memory-Optimized Droplet with 64 GB of RAM is $336 a month; General Purpose 8 vCPU / 32 GB is $252. Our largest Standard server, 16 vCPU / 64 GB / 500 GB, is $49.50, and the Performance line goes to 16 vCPU / 64 GB on NVMe for $158. Those DigitalOcean boxes have dedicated cores and ours are shared, so the fair match for our plans is the Basic table above; the dedicated prices just show what 64 GB of RAM costs there.
Same kind of server
What you get is what a Droplet gives you: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, a public IPv4 address, root over SSH, a console with power, rebuild and graphs, and free DNS for your domains. On top, the order form lets you tick installs (Python, Node, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, Caddy and others) and we set them up before you log in, and you can choose a no-root mode where only your key gets in, without sudo, for servers you hand to a developer or a client.
Billing is prepaid: top up from $10, each server is paid 30 days at a time from the balance, and unused days come back as credit when you delete it. No card is ever charged by surprise.
Where DigitalOcean is still ahead
DigitalOcean has a far bigger catalogue (Kubernetes, App Platform, Spaces, load balancers, many more regions for the small sizes) and many years of track record. Our small sizes run in Germany and US Central for now and bigger servers in 9 regions. If you need those extra products, stay. If you buy Droplets and a database, you are paying several times what the same server costs here.
